Microblading Post-Care Instructions

What to Know After Your Microblading Procedure

Please follow these instructions to ensure proper healing and maximum color retention. Remember that colors appear brighter and more sharply defined immediately following the procedure. As the healing progresses, color will soften. You should wait to interpret final results until the healing and touch-up is complete. Microblading procedures normally require multiple treatment sessions. For best results, clients will return for at least one re-touch appointment. This appointment must be completed between 8-10 weeks of your first service. Anything beyond 10 weeks will be charged a 6-month touch-up fee. Failure to follow post-treatment instructions may cause loss of pigment, discoloration, or infection.

  • Gently apply a thin layer of aftercare balm 3-5 times a day for up to 14 days following the procedure (this will keep area from scabbing) using a clean cotton swab each time; not your fingertips. The aftercare products is used to hydrate skin and prevent crusting. Apply a thin layer to prevent itching and dryness, and use a clean cotton swab for each dip into the aftercare, no double-dipping.
  • Stay out of the sun. If you must be outside, wear a hat and sunglasses. After the procedure heals, use sunscreen to prevent future fading of pigment color.
  • Ice may be applied the first day following the procedure for 10-15 minutes per hour for a couple of hours, use a clean tissue to cover the ice pack each time.
  • Avoid exercise that causes sweating until the procedure are heals
  • Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs until the procedure heals
  • Do not let the procedure area become dry while it is healing. Maintaining hydration is key to proper healing
  • Avoid makeup, lash/brow tints, and other facial treatments on the brows until the procedure heals (up to 14 days). Very gentle facial washes and treatments are acceptable on the face after 24 hours as long as the procedure area is avoided.
  • Avoid gardening and contact with animals for a least one week following the procedure to prevent infection
  • Avoid any clothing that may irritate the procedure area
  • Your permanent cosmetics will begin to turn darker immediately after the procedure. After healing, the color will settle to a lighter shade of the original color (typically about 10-15% lighter)
  • It is normal for some people to have some exfoliation or flaking of the skin. It is also normal if it does not. Fading or loss of pigment may occur during the healing. Pigment under the skin may appear very light immediately after healing.
  • Color intensity is high immediately after the procedure. Over the next 2-3 weeks, the color may lighten by 20%
  • Pigment may come off on your pillow while you sleep, and may stain linens. Use a clean cover that you won’t mind staining if this happens
  • Symptoms of infection or adverse reaction may or may not occur. They include: excessive redness, swelling, tenderness of procedure site, elevated body temperature, rash, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. If you experience symptoms of infection or adverse reaction, seek medical attention immediately. Please note that some redness, swelling, and tenderness is normal. This should be minimal and only last 1-2 days.
  • You may or may not be allowed to give blood for 1 year following your procedure depending on your state, see your donation specialist for details
  • Touch-ups should be schedules about 8 weeks post-procedure. Results are not determined until a touch-up application is completed
  • You must AVOID ALL anti-aging and or acne products that actively stimulate, lighten or brighten the skin. These products will lighten and change the pigment color in your skin, typically turning them gray
